Ishaan Dhawan on TV being looked down as a medium
Ever since the evolution of OTT, TV actors have moved from space and are working there. Often actors who move away from television, look down up on it and comment on it’s hectic schedule and content.
Reacting to actors who demean television as medium, Ishaan says, “Koi bhi actor hai agar wo TV se hai toh they should be proud of. Kyuki humlog pe pressure hota hai telecast ka. Theatre wale apne mood se kaam karte hai kyuki unko wahi baithna hai pure din. Wo rehearsel karenge, khana-peena karenge fir hojayega unka. As an actor aapko apne aapko prepare karna padta hai, maintain karna rehta hai, aapko show up rehna padta hai hamesha. (Any actor, if they come from TV, they should be proud of it. Because we face pressure due to the telecast. Theater actors work at their own pace because they only need to be there the entire day. They rehearse, eat, and then their work is done. As an actor, you have to prepare yourself, maintain yourself, and always show up).”
He added, “Jo log bolte hai tv as a medium kharab hai, mujhe unlog se sakht nafrat hai. Makers ne tak kabhi discriminate nahi kiya hai tv, ott ya youtube walo ko. Toh hum kyu kare? As artists we work for camera and not the medium. (People who say TV as a medium is bad, I strongly dislike them. The makers have never discriminated between TV, OTT, or YouTube actors. So why should we? As artists, we work for the camera, not the medium).”
Talking about Doree 2, the show also stars Amar Upadhyay and Srijita De.
